Owraman, also known as Uraman Takht, is a UNESCO-listed ancient village in Kurdistan Province, perched on the steep slopes of the Zagros Mountains near the border with Iraq. One of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Iran, it is believed to have been founded over 3,000 years ago. Its terraced stone houses are built so tightly into the mountainside that the roof of one home serves as the yard of the next, a design almost identical to Masuleh but in a far more rugged, dramatic setting.
